After months of planning, building, and testing behind the scenes, we are finally ready to pull back the curtain on Nexus SMP Season 3. This is not just another map reset — it is a ground-up reimagining of what a public SMP can be. We have listened to every piece of feedback from Season 2 and turned it into something we genuinely believe is our best work yet.
In this post we will walk through every major change, from the new world generation system to the completely revamped economy. Grab a snack — this one is detailed.
🌍 The World — Custom Terrain, Bigger Borders
For Season 3 we have moved away from vanilla world generation entirely. The map is built using a custom terrain engine that produces dramatically more interesting landscapes while staying true to the Minecraft feel.
Key Terrain Changes
- Epic mountain ranges that actually feel like mountains — 200+ block peaks with snowy summits, glacial lakes, and winding passes.
- Expansive river systems that connect biomes naturally. Rivers are wider, deeper, and navigable by boat across thousands of blocks.
- Denser forests with custom tree variants. Old-growth taigas, redwood groves, and haunted darkwood biomes.
- Underground overhaul — larger cave systems, underground rivers, and rare subterranean biomes with unique loot tables.
- World border set at 20,000 × 20,000 — double the size of Season 2, with planned expansions throughout the season.
💰 Economy 2.0 — Built From Scratch
The economy in Season 2 had some rough edges. Inflation crept in, certain items became worthless, and the shop system felt bolted-on. For Season 3 we have written an entirely new economy plugin from the ground up.
| Feature | Season 2 | Season 3 | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Currency | Diamonds (unstable) | Nexus Credits (NX$) | new |
| Admin Shops | Static prices | Dynamic pricing based on supply | reworked |
| Player Shops | Chest shops only | GUI-based marketplace + chest shops | new |
| Auction House | Not available | Global auction house with bidding | new |
| Jobs System | Basic /jobs plugin | Custom jobs with progressive tiers | reworked |
| Tax System | None | Claim-based land tax (low rate) | new |
| Banking | /bal only | Player banks with interest & shared accounts | new |
| Trade Escrow | Not available | Secure trade system to prevent scams | after launch |
Our philosophy for Season 3: every credit should feel earned, every purchase should feel meaningful. The NX$ economy is designed to prevent hyperinflation while rewarding active players.
⚔️ Combat & PvP — Fairer, Smoother, Deeper
Season 3 introduces a completely rebalanced combat system. We have moved away from vanilla 1.9+ combat and built a hybrid system that combines the best of both pre-1.9 and modern combat mechanics.
Combat Changelog
- No attack cooldown — We removed the 1.9+ attack cooldown indicator. Click speed matters again, but with diminishing returns.
- Custom damage formula — Weapons now have a
Strengthstat separate from raw damage. Armor hasDefenseandToughness. - Sword blocking returns — Hold right-click with a sword to reduce incoming damage by 50%. Shields still exist and block 100% from the front.
- New weapon types — Daggers (fast, low damage), Battleaxes (slow, armor-piercing), Spears (extended reach), and Tomahawks (throwable).
- Potion rebalance — Harming and Poison potions have been toned down. Healing potions now heal over time instead of instantly.
- Combat tagging — You are now combat-tagged for 30 seconds after PvP. Logging out while tagged leaves a 15-second NPC that can be killed.
🏗️ Building & Claims — More Room, More Blocks
Season 3 doubles down on the building experience. Claim blocks have been increased across the board, and we have added a suite of quality-of-life features for builders.
| Rank | Max Claims | Claim Blocks | /sethome Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Default | 3 | 15,000 | 3 |
| Hero | 5 | 25,000 | 5 |
| Legend | 8 | 40,000 | 8 |
| Titan | 12 | 60,000 | 12 |
| Mythic | 18 | 90,000 | 18 |
| Sponsor | 25 | 130,000 | 25 |
Builder QoL Additions
- /anvil — Opens a virtual anvil anywhere (Legend+).
- /craft — Opens a crafting table anywhere (Sponsor only).
- /condense — Auto-converts items into their block form (Titan+).
- /rename — Rename held items without an anvil (available to all ranks).
- Armor stand editor — Fine-tune armor stand poses with a GUI.
- Invisible item frames — Punch an item frame with a glass pane to toggle visibility.

📊 Development Progress
We know you are wondering: when does Season 3 launch? Here is where we stand right now.
- World Generation 95%
- Economy Plugin 90%
- Combat System 85%
- Build & Claims 100%
- Custom Enchants 75%
- Quests System 40%
- Testing & QA 50%
We are targeting a July 2026 launch window. A specific date will be announced on Discord once we are confident in the stability of all core systems. A public beta weekend will run one week before launch — everyone is invited.
🔄 What Happens to Season 2?
Season 2 will remain online in read-only archive mode for one month after Season 3 launches. You will be able to log in, take screenshots, and save schematics of your builds. After that, the Season 2 world download will be made available for anyone who wants to keep playing offline or host privately.
Store ranks, homes, and balances do not carry over between seasons. Everyone starts fresh. This is intentional — it keeps the playing field level and makes the early rush one of the best parts of any new season.
